The Family Portrait of the Solar System taken by Voyager 1

The Family Portrait, or sometimes Portrait of the Planets, is an image of the Solar System acquired by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990, from a distance of approximately 6 billion km (40 AU; 3.7 billion mi) from Earth. It features individual frames of six planets and a partial background indicating their relative positions. The picture is a mosaic of 60 frames. The frames used to compose the image were the last photographs taken by either Voyager spacecraft (which continued to relay other telemetry afterward). The frames were also the source of the famous Pale Blue Dot image of the Earth. Astronomer Carl Sagan, who was part of the Voyager imaging team, campaigned for many years to have the pictures taken.

Voyager 1

I recently edited the voyager 1 page. The page states about voyagers future: “in about 40,000 years, it will pass within 1.6 light-years (0.49 parsecs) of the star Gliese 445, which is at present in the constellation Camelopardalis and 17.1 light-years from Earth.” Voyager 1 needs 17,000 years to cross one light-year. 17,000 years x 17 light years is 289,000 years. Without further explanation about the other star system moving towards our solar systems the math makes absolutely no sense. Did you actually read the edit or just undo everything anyone does automatically? 38.7.154.157 (talk) 14:31, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Wow, one year..!!??? Thanks a lot Gerda. May your kindness be always reciprocated anywhere you go. Thanks again :) — Benison (Beni · talk) 11:55, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for a blessing. Isn't "always" asking a bit too much? Mirella Freni, a subject I admire, is in prep with a DYK hook that I don't admire. I suggested to use it for April 1, but the irony was not understood, and it didn't happen (although they pulled a hook). What do you think was not clear in my objection (on the article talk)? .. rather at the end: that she is not active, and interestingness only created by a famous man's name. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:00, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

Page move

In addition to Khaddama, the user The Intersider has also moved the page L2: Empuraan from Empuraan (directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran) without any explanation whatsoever. 2409:4073:4D9F:E889:6161:A5BB:4E68:4DC0 (talk) 15:17, 5 April 2025 (UTC)

Request to Review Deleted Article

Good evening,

I hope you are doing well. Are you able to share a previously deleted page with me? The page of Daniel Comeaux was soft deleted after consideration last year on October, 4, 2024. I am not asking for the deletion to be reconsidered, but I would like to receive a copy of the page that was deleted if possible.

Thank you so much for your time. BucketSky10 (talk) 21:17, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

@BucketSky10: Hey, thanks for dropping by. I'm not an administrator and hence can't help you with that. But, you can see Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to provide copies of deleted articles for that and contact anyone there. Thanks and happy editing. — Benison (Beni · talk) 06:42, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
